expand_moreDo I have to ride the horse?
No, riding is not a requirement at Galloping Grace Farm. Almost all of the work is done on the ground. Some clients enjoy the back of the horse at a walk to help calm and regulate the body. Our approach focuses mostly on ground work (unless you ask to regulate on the back), allowing you to connect with the horse in a way that feels safe and comfortable for you. The healing experience unfolds through presence and relationship, not riding. You are welcome to simply be with the horse and explore your feelings at your own pace.
expand_more What if I’m afraid of horses?
It's completely okay to feel afraid of horses. At Galloping Grace Farm, we embrace all emotions, including fear. Our horses are attuned to your energy and will respond gently, creating a safe space for you to explore your feelings without judgment or pressure. Remember, this is your healing journey, and you are in control.
In life it takes time to establish a healthy relationship. The same holds true with a horse. This is all about you and what you need, even if standing 20 feet away is what feels safe. Honestly, there is wisdom to going slow in a relationship!
expand_more Do I need to already be in therapy to participate?
You do not need to be in therapy already to join us at Galloping Grace Farm. While many of our clients are currently in therapy, we also welcome those who are seeking support for the first time. We can work in collaboration with your existing therapist or provide a standalone experience that meets your unique needs.
expand_more What happens during a session?
In your first session with a horse, you will begin by grounding yourself in the tranquil environment of Galloping Grace Farm. With the guidance of your therapist and your personal needs, you will have the opportunity to choose which horse you would like to connect with in a relationship. The horse will meet you where you are presently functioning, not where you want to be. Horses have an innate ability to read our body language because they are prey animals and are on high alert. They will not expect you to be anywhere other than in the present moment.
Horses long for connection also. It is difficult to say what the next session will be. The first session will dictate if you continue with the horse, process with your therapist or continue the bond between you and the horse. The presence of the horse tends to guide you toward restoration as you find peace in the relationship, maybe for the first time ever!. Sessions may include reflective practices, movement and boundary setting, regulating skills, attunement with self and the horse, all aimed at fostering awareness, deep emotional shifts, experiential practices bringing you to a place of wholeness
expand_more Is this confidential?
Absolutely. At Galloping Grace Farm, your emotional safety and privacy are our top priorities. We adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines to ensure that your healing journey remains a safe and sacred space. You can trust that what you share with us stays between you and your therapist. The only time confidentiality is broken is when by law, a therapist is required to report physical, sexual and neglect. The therapist is also required to report homicidal issues or danger to others or self and court ordered cases.
expand_more Is this covered by insurance?
Currently, our services are offered on a private pay basis. While we do not accept insurance directly, we are happy to provide documentation that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. Your healing is important to us, and we want to support you in every way possible.
